After an examination phase lasting more than three years, the patent for the SMART SPACE 4 PASSENGERS seat has been successfully granted by the German Patent Office (DPMA).
The grant was officially announced in Part 3 of the DPMA's Patent Gazette (Patentblatt).

The SMART SPACE 4 PASSENGERS has been shortlisted by the RedCabin Trinity Award 2024
The RedCabin Trinity Award recognizes innovation in aircraft interior and first and foremost it brings transport pioneers together with innovators that apply for the award. RedCabin is driving innovation, which is helping tackle the biggest and most pressing challenges across the aviation industry.

The SMART SPACE 4 PASSENGERS is amongst the winner of the German Design Award 2024
The German Design Awards are the premium prize of the German Design Council. With its global scope and international appeal, it is one of the most prestigious awards in the design landscape across all industries. Since 2012, the German Design Awards have been identifying key design trends, presenting them to a broad public and honouring them. Extraordinary submissions in product design, communications design and architecture are selected each year.
The SMART SPACE 4 PASSENGERS has been selected as a special winner in the category Aviation, Maritime & Railway.

October 2023 I4A is invited to participate at the GDA 2024
The German Design Award (GDA) is the award for excellent product design. The GDA sets international standards for innovative design developments and competitiveness on the global market. The decision and publication of the Jury results for the GDA 2024 will be expected in December 2023.

I4A's invention, which is known as the "Smart Space 4 Passengers Concept" has been published by the:
- World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO),
- United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the
- German Patent Office (DPMA)

I4A Smart Space 4 Passengers Concept has been selected by the Crystal Cabin Award Association as one of three finalists in the cabin concept category for the 2022 Crystal Cabin Awards, the international award for excellence in aircraft interior innovation.
The ’Smart Space 4 Passengers’ concept - developed by Aeronautical Engineer Charalambos Savvidis - enables passengers to book the seat directly in front of them and use it for their individual travel needs.
Passengers can rotate the backrest of the seat facing them 90 degrees to the side via a door-like hinge. The passenger can then use the seat surface in front of them for various individual travel needs.
